Lift/ Elevator Technician Mechanical, New Installation Training

Mechanical new installation training for lift/elevator technicians prepares skilled technicians to install modern residential, commercial and industrial elevators. During this training trainees will learn hands-on, theoretical knowledge and be provided the foundation necessary to install lift systems in a safe, dependable, and accurate manner. Trainees will learn: elevator components, mechanical structures, installing guide rails in an elevator shaft, shaft alignment, machine room assembly, workplace health and safety protocols etc. Trainees will also learn how to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams and manufacturer manuals; this will bolster their ability to comply with Canadian standards, international best practices and standards and procedures for installing elevators. Particular attention will be given to traction, hydraulic and machine-room-less (MRL) elevators.

There is a practical element to the training; trainees will develop their lift skills by assembling parts by hand, adjusting mechanical clearances, align doors and run a preliminary trial run of an elevator. Safety during new installations is the primary focus for technicians; there is a clear understanding of working with tools, lift installations, and personal protective gear to mitigate accidental injury while installing lift systems.
